US Soccer License Pathway

In an effort to further improve the grassroots soccer environment for both players and coaches, U.S. Soccer has restructured the foundation of its coaching license pathway.  The new Grassroots Licensing Courses, which replace the F and E License Course, offer an a-la-carte approach meant to empower coaches with education that is relevant to their specific coaching needs. 

The Grassroots Licenses will help coaches ensure fun, enjoyable, and developmentally appropriate environments for their players. Prospective coaches will have the option to partake in any of these new courses – in any sequence – after completing a cost-free, Introduction to Grassroots Coaching Module provided by U.S. Soccer.

• USSF “Intro to Grassroots” License is an FREE 20 MINUTE ONLINE course.
• USSF “In Person Grassroots License” (4v4, 7v7, 9v9, 11v11) is a SINGLE DAY (4 hours).
• USSF “Online Grassroots License (4v4, 7v7, 9v9, 11v11) is an ONLINE course (2 hours).
• USSF “Grassroots D” License is TWO SEPARATE WEEKENDS (approximately 38 hours).

You MUST ATTEND the ENTIRETY of the course in order to complete.  You will not be excused due to conflicts (please reschedule or get coverage before registering).

You will physically participate during the course.

Pre-Requisites are in place for:

• USSF “In Person Grassroots and  Online Grassroots” – THERE ARE NO PREREQUISITES
• USSF “Grassroots D” – MUST have successfully completed the USSF “E” License and the Intro to Grassroots course, OR successful completion of the Intro to Grassroots course, one (1) online course (4v4, 7v7, 9v9, 11v11 or previous F license), two (2) In Person Grassroots licenses (one must be the 11v11).

**There are NO WAIVERS allowed for the In Person or Grassroots D Licenses.  Only Waivers allowed are for the C or B Licenses and ONLY US Soccer will allow based on your application.** – Please DO NOT ASK for waivers if you do not meet the requirements.

Each participant is provided with coaching materials including a course manual and resources and upon completion an official KSYSA certificate recognized by US Soccer and each of the 55 youth state associations.
